Getting started
How do I start my first book?
Create your account with a passphrase, save the recovery code on paper, then tap "Start a new book" and choose a book type — memoir, a parent's biography, family history, travel, pilgrimage, wedding, baby, tribute, retirement, recipes and more.
Can I write in Hindi?
Yes. Questions are in English and हिन्दी, and you can answer in either — or both. You can also make a translated copy of a finished book.
I don't like typing. Can I just speak?
Yes. Use Talk mode: the app reads a question aloud and you answer by voice. Your recording is kept with the answer. Turning speech into text needs an AI key (see below).
Book Pass and purchases
What is free and what needs a Book Pass?
The first 3 chapters of every book are free. A Book Pass (₹999 in India) unlocks one whole book for 6 months — every chapter, Talk mode, print-ready PDF, Amazon paperback cover, EPUB and Word. It is a one-time purchase and never renews automatically.
How does the 50% reward work?
Mark a book complete within 60 days of starting it, with at least 80% of questions answered and 3,000+ words. Your next Book Pass is then offered at half price.
My pass ended. Is my book lost?
No. Your book stays safe and readable. Renew it with another Book Pass whenever you want to continue writing.
How do I ask for a refund?
Purchases are made through Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, or email us and we'll help.
Keeping your books safe
I forgot my passphrase.
On the lock screen tap "Forgot passphrase?" and use your recovery code to set a new passphrase. If both the passphrase and recovery code are lost, nobody can open the account — this is what keeps your books private.
How do I back up, or move to a new phone?
Settings, AI & backup → Backup creates an encrypted backup file. Save it to Files, iCloud Drive or a computer. On the new device, install the app and choose "Restore from backup".
Do you keep a copy of my books?
No. Your books are encrypted on your device and never sent to us. See the privacy policy.
Printing and publishing
How do I make a PDF or a printed book?
Open Print preview to see real pages with numbers and a contents page, then create the PDF and save or share it. For an Amazon KDP paperback, use the interior PDF plus the "Paperback cover" PDF (at least 24 pages).
Can I get an ebook or Word file?
Yes — Export offers EPUB (for ebooks) and Word (.docx) as well as a single web page.
AI help (optional)
How do I turn on AI features?
Settings, AI & backup → AI: choose a provider (Google Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, OpenRouter or Groq) and paste your own API key from that provider. AI then helps with transcription, polishing, translation and chapter ideas. Only what you choose to send goes to that provider.
